Insurance your constant denials are starving us.
While I sit here waiting for lunch, I am also thinking of my escape plan. Waitressing at one time helped me survive college, not by the money it provided, instead by giving me the drive I needed to keep attending college. Now this Master’s Degree I hold seems useless. Insurance your denials have me thinking that waitressing would be a dream job right now. Insurance you have stiffed me after waiting tables for you for 3 months, cleaning up after you, provide you with the best of myself, yet you still refuse to pay. I have to allow you back in to my restaraunt because, without you, I would have no customers.
When waitressing I worked hard and I provided good service. Insurance, guess what?! When I provided good service, I got paid! There were always a few unexpected patrons that would stiff me, but it wasn’t the norm. The days were always evened out by the special patrons who showed me how much my quality, caring, attentive service meant to them and would leave extra tips, so in the end it evened out.
Insurance, your red tape, lack of accountability and failure to respond timely has us therapists and small clinics starving. Too many therapists have to close their doors and send clients to the wind because you aren’t paying. Insurance, you require so much effort we therapists can’t spend our time seeing clients. Insurance you deny claims and fail to see the errors in your system. Therapists can’t afford the gas to go to work or the rent for their space. Therapists work from cars, closets anywhere to keep the overhead low, because who knows when you, Insurance, will finally pay, or perhaps you never will.
I have a masters degree and provide quality effective care to your customers and still you, Insurance, refuse to pay. You know what insurance, I think I have to go back to back to waitressing.
Don't let insurance starve you. Fight back. Appeal. Write letters to inform insurance. Inform them that their protocols, lack of coverage and refusal to pay for covered services already performed, is unnaceptable. Insurance, you should be held accountable just as any other company would be. Your service stinks, you owe us all, customers and providers, an apology.
Therapists, when you need it, think of your dream escape, it helps! One coworker today said she dreams to be a stocker! Mine a waitress. Its okay to dream but dont give up. Our field needs you. Clients are waiting and they need you. Reach out if you need support.
